Our environment
Surrounded by nature
Not only are we privileged to have natural grass on site, a purpose-built stream, trees to climb and edible gardens, Emily Foord Kindergarten opens out onto the extensive parklands, playgrounds and bike paths of Kedron Brook. Inside, children enjoy two large air-conditioned class rooms filled with open-ended resources.
Huge air conditioned classrooms
Our two class rooms are freshly renovated and provide ample space for creative minds and busy bodies. We have a large array of open ended resources so children can build, create, invent and become. There is enough space to build a bus in one area, then have a quiet book in another.
Our rooms have been designed with best practice in mind - promoting a sense of calm amongst the children and helping them to focus on their activities. Each room spills out onto an outdoor covered area, where lunches are devoured and messy learning is enjoyed.
Challenging equipment for play
Our yard features a magnificent fort with interchangeable parts to maximise engagement and challenge. Children enjoy the high platforms, rock walls and fireman pole each and every day, but love to arrive to find a new ropes course set up, a flying fox or monkey bar ready for them to navigate and master.
Mud, sand and water play are well catered for, with an enormous sandpit, a digging patch and a number of water play areas. Trees to climb, a magical fairy garden, a mud kitchen and a boat to ride in, are all other features that are adored by our children. It is as you follow the steppingstones through the arbour that our most prized area can be discovered.
An ever-popular stream
Ask any child about Emily Foord Kindergarten, and they’ll tell you “It’s the kindy with the stream!”. The stream flows under shady trees and is often filled with magnetic fish or little boats. The camp kitchen nearby allows for extended play where children are frequently seen ‘cooking their catch’.
Gardens galore
Emily Foord Kindergarten is one of the very few early educational facilities that still features natural grass! We also have several edible gardens which children are highly engaged in, planting and harvesting crops.
Parklands at our door
Our kindergarten’s gates open up onto the lush green parklands of Kedron Brook. Children are taken out to explore the creek and parklands on a regular basis. With no roads to cross or buses to board, our families sign a year-long permission slip and our classes are free to explore.
